Bandar Bintan Telani (BBT) – Bintan Island - General Info

Nov 14, 2022

Description:

Bandar Bintan Telani (BBT) is situated on the northwest coast of Bintan Island, at the end of a shallow inlet with a well-marked deep water channel.

It is about 35NM east of Singapore and is a popular destination as it is only one hour by ferry from the island nation.

The BBT terminal serves as a Port of Entry clearance port, mainly for the fast ferries from Singapore, but private vessels are also able to clear into and out of Indonesian waters here.

Cruiser Highlights:

A good alternative port to Nongsa Point Marina as a Port of Entry into and out of Indonesia. Cruisers report clearing here is made much easier by the use of an agent who is recommended by the marina.  Officials are also reported to be friendly and efficient.

Entrance Notes or Cautions:

A large ship, the Doulos Phos, is easy to spot at the entrance of the inlet.  It is on land and has been remodeled as a hotel.

The international ferry terminal is further down the inlet.  The Bintan Resorts Marina is immediately past the ferry terminal. There are about eight ferry arrivals/departures per day and their wash doesn’t affect the marina to any great extent.

At low spring tides, there is very little water past the marina on the upstream side of the inlet.

Position:

01° 09’648”N, 104° 19’282”E
