Retesting in progress

YachtFlags.com provides high quality courtesy flags that are manufactured in durable Knitted Polyester fabric. Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.

Biak is located on the southern shores of an island of the same name. It is the largest of the Schouten Islands and is about 300nm NW of Jayapura. It is part of the Indonesian province of Papua.
Biak town is the first official Port of Entry if approaching Indonesia from the East. This is a busy place as it forms a hub for transport both internationally (via the airport) and by sea to Papua and West Papua. It replaces Jayapura as the Port of Entry for this area. The clearance process for yachts has been greatly streamlined in 2024 and this is an efficient place to clear.
The Port is protected by a reef, so it is important to check positions carefully in order to locate the approach.
If travelling the north coast of Papua New Guinea – beware of floating logs and trees in the water between Biak and the outer islands of PNG including Ninigo and Manus. Cruisers have reported large pieces of isolated timber and then whole trees in tide lines over 70 nm from the mainland of West Papua. Some of these timber strewn tide lines reported to be over two miles long. Read the following report from March 2025.
It is an interesting and attractive place to visit and also provides good snorkelling sites and great beaches.
There is no place for overnight berthing for cruisers, but it does provide an anchorage. For provisioning, when tide and weather allow, it is possible to tie up to the main wharf for provisioning.
It is advisable to use an agent here to manage the clearance process. Cruisers who have cleared into Indonesia here recommend Mr Igo (+62 82140321672)
