Hog Island - General Info

Feb 18, 2025

HURRICANE BERYL:  The island nations of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada were the worst affected by Hurricane Beryl at the start of July 2024. The Grenadines, Carriacou, Petit Martinique and Union Island were particularly hard hit.  While the islands are recovering and all major marine services are back up and running (apart from on Union Island), cruisers should be aware that the islands are still in recovery mode and some services may still be limited or not available.

Where is Hog Island?

There is an anchorage area just east of Mt Hartman Bay and north-west of Hog Island.

This is a popular anchorage as there is a good beach on Hog Island and it's a short dinghy ride to Mt Hartman Bay and to Clarkes Court Bay and Lower Woburn for the bus to shopping downtown.

Entrance Notes and Cautions for Hog Island:

Entry is through the Mt Hartman buoyed channel, bear right before the green/red buoy.

There are security concerns in this port/anchorage for visiting yachts.  See Docking for more information.

Cruiser Highlights for Hog Island:

There are numerous good snorkelling areas on the reefs in this area.

Position:

12° 00.1'N, 061° 44.5'W (anchorage)
