EU Customs rules apply. Boats visiting French Guiana may stay up to 18 months under temporary admission for tourism.
Yachts can be temporarily imported for up to 18 months without paying duty, on condition that one does not enter into commercial activity ashore. Chartering is not allowed.

It is illegal for foreign tourists or sailors to sell any of their possessions to local residents and the penalties are heavy fines.
Note: As any informers receive a large proportion of the fine, visitors have been set up by some of these local informers.
