Easter Island - Health

Jul 20, 2024

There is a hospital on the island, staffed by medical personel from Chile and a dentist. Medications are fairly limited.

Travel medical insurance is required for foreigners not residing in the country that covers all expenses that may cause medical assistance, hospital care and repatriation, during their entire stay in the country. The minimum amount of coverage for health benefits must be USD $ 30,000.

Dengue fever is a danger here and the advice is to see a doctor immediately if any fever is experienced.

Water is potable, but the mineral content might cause some stomach upset for sensitive individuals.
