Road Harbour is located off Road Town, Tortola and is the main commercial seaport in the British Virgin Islands. The harbour can be busy because there are are a number of small marinas, Customs and Immigration as well as an Inter island ferry dock. Road Harbour also handles many of the cruise ships that make Tortola a port of call.
Entrance to Road Harbour is straightforward but boats do run aground on the sand bar on the Road Reef/Fort Burt side of the harbour at the entrance.
This is where you’ll find most of the island’s services and infrastructure including Customs and Immigration; post office; bank; stores; restaurants; hospital; government administration offices; taxis and car rentals and ferries to other islands. Road Town is also home to the J.R. O'Neal Botanic Gardens which wind through close to three acres of indigenous and exotic plants, trees and herbs; the Governor's House with its historical museum; and Main Street, which still has many historic buildings and churches, cafes, curio shops as well as the Virgin Islands Folk Museum.
