BIOT (Chagos) - Documents

Documents Required by Yachts Visiting BIOT

For the crew:

• Comprehensive travel insurance covering British Indian Ocean Territory, including medical repatriation ($100,000 per person).

For the boat:

• A BIOT permit for the whole time the yacht is in the BIOT Maritime Zone. See Clearance for full details.
• Your yacht insurance coverage must clearly state that the Indian Ocean area is covered by the policy and that BIOT is NOT excluded from the coverage. It must also include salvage wreck recovery and removal - you must highlight the relevant sections of your insurance documents showing that you are covered for this.
