Panama agent Erick Galvez from Centenario Consulting advised Noonsite that from early April, Autoridad Maritima officials have dusted off a law from the 1980s requiring all boats undertaking any activity in Panama, to pay an additional US$100 Consular documents legalization fee.
“Therefore in order to check you out we will need to pay an additional $100 dollars or if you check out on your own be advised that they (port officials) will charge this fee,” said Erick. “It is being applied in all ports in the country. The port clearance fee charge is now US$105.70 instead of the previous US$5.70.”
Erick also advised that anyone being charged this fee should ask for an official invoice from the Autoridad Maritima.
