Eight coastal areas around Hainan Island, including Boao and Nanshan, will be accessible, from July 16th 2019, for foreign-based yachts. This new policy will be managed by the local authorities rather than the state transportation departments and will, as a result, provide easier access. This policy will continue initially until January 15th, 2020.
Wu Pingsheng, deputy director of the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration, said: “The new measures will also provide easier access for yachts from Hong Kong and Macao to Hainan, with entry and exit approval procedures simplified and requirements for single-voyage certification documents canceled.”
On Hainan Sayna is currently the only port open to foreign yachts offering a base for the 2,000kms of coastline and over 600 islands, islets and reefs that will now be accessible.
